| Q |
What network marketing (NM) are you currently involved in? |
| A |
The Body Shop at Home which I have been with since the end of June this year, but I was previously with another company for approximately 2 years. |
| Q |
How did you find out about it or get involved? |
| A |
I enquired via our local shop after hearing about it from a friend who had attended a party. I am also very interested in The Body Shop's values and the fact that they really do make a difference to peoples lives. |
| Q |
What negative experiences did you have in the past with NM? |
| A |
With the previous company I had a real problem to generate business and found that I was wasting time and money, but The Body Shop Direct has taken off really well with a great deal of interest. |
| Q |
What investment did it take to get started? |
| A |
£95 start up cost for two kits, one facial and one make-over, plus two days training. I did recoup this very quickly though. (updated June 2001) |
| Q |
Where do you do most of your NM? |
| A |
At present in other peoples homes, but hopefully in the future at events, schools, etc and possibly via the Internet. |
| Q |
Where do you work at home and do you need to store goods? |
| A |
I need storage space for the products and for when the goods are delivered, this is currently my front room. |
| Q |
What are the negative points about working at home and NM? |
| A |
The children are a constant distraction and so often working from home can be difficult, especially if I am busy and need to sort orders out. The
profits are not great to start off with, but as I have become more confident in myself and the products, I have seen a definite increase in sales. Also I can arrange my work around my family and work mainly when I choose. (updated June 2001)

|
| Q |
Do you find a car is essential? |
| A |
Yes, as the majority of my parties are out of my home town and I need to deliver the goods afterwards. |
| Q |
Do you manage to keep your work and home life separate? |
| A |
To a certain extent, but my husband is very interested in what I am doing and we all love the Body Shop products.
I try and make sure that it does not interfere with the children, but this is not always possible. |
| Q |
Do you do your NM part time or full time? |
| A |
Part time, mainly in the evenings. I normally do 2-3 evenings per week, with each party averaging 3 hours. |
| Q |
What sort of work do you also do (or before you did NM full time)? |
| A |
Before my children I worked as a programme co-ordinator for training
schemes. |
| Q |
What advice would you suggest to someone considering Network Marketing? |
| A |
I think The Body Shop at Home is excellent for a mother with children at home or school, or anyone else wishing to earn some extra money, as your work schedule can be arranged to suit the family or other commitments. You have great fun in the process of earning your money and meet lots of lovely people, also the potential to earn more and expand your business, if you want, is definitely there. There are also loads of promotions and chances to win great prizes, such as an invitation to Anita Roddicks' garden party, latest products and ultimately, holidays abroad.
The products are good, reasonably priced, appeal to most people and the company has many values that make it such a worthwhile job, such as against animal testing, supporting community trade, activating self esteem and protecting the planet, to name a few.
If you work at it, the earning opportunities are endless!!
As a mother at home I found that I had lost a great deal of confidence, I have now regained my confidence and have no qualms about facing a room full of ladies listening to me talk about the values and products of The Body Shop. (updated June 2001)
