Sock monkeys! I had to say that. Its just that the two styles of pattern are all over the internet for free, and if you've got a three pack of stripy men's socks from Primark, and the stuffing from a pound shop pillow, then that's all of £6 (tops) laid out for hours of fun practising little tails and little feet. They also stack up as useful table fillers at fundraisers.... :-) |

Oh Thimble oops! Sorry for causing confusion. You are obviously a professional and a dab hand with a sewing machine - I was thinking of Gaby, who said she was 'a wuss' about getting to grips with a sewing machine. On the other hand, our local upholstery fabric shop dresses the window with pincushion chickens etc out of curtain fabric. I just assumed you'd be looking for much bigger projects. I see you like to be creative and to bring your own sense of design to an item, to be able to 'claim' it (unlike factory girls who, I guess, run a machine over whatever they are told and don't have that personal satisfaction). Still, for bread and butter, I can't help thinking that for all the people who buy curtains on tick, off a catalogue company, there must be a high percentage who wish they knew someone to take an inch off the product, once they've seen it hung. Do you advertise bespoke alterations at the hardware store and the post office? I'm thinking of making the idea noticed when people go to buy curtain poles or fixings, or where they have to go to make returns. I hope you do make contact with some more designer types here, to bounce off each other's creativity. You've almost certainly thought of this already, but if you are doing well with wedding chair covers then the wedding chair ties, table runners, table centres, place mats and all the coordinating fabric items might be easy add-ons - its so hard to exactly match a colour or fabric unless the bride gets it all from the same place....) :-) |

Sounds like you're going to do really well. Nothing beats working at what you love doing, using what you do well and doing it in the place you prefer to be. All the very best to you |

Oh - I just googled your name (we're the same county), and instantly found your website. That's beautiful! The level of work in the pin tucks and gathers along the top of those gold curtains is absolutely stunning. It would be nice to see a more distant view of the sail blinds to see their whole shape and effect on the look of the conservatory. All the shots seem dedicated to how the sales interrelate to each other, and the quality of the work, but nothing to let an untrained eye understand how much they billow into the room; how much of a statement they make. I'd also be scared to phone you up because that gold curtain header looks so high-class that I'd assume your work was very expensive. Its worth putting a link in your profile because people here will check it out. |

hi millyso Thankyou for looking at my website,i could not get a better shot of the conservatory because its quite small. The nature of my trade is expensive ,but im cheaper than the shops i work for who take all the credit.I am being viewed by beverly hills US.As for the header on those gold curtains, the curtains were secondhand and too short ,so i added fabric and tucked the fabric where the seam was.The lady calls that room her ballroom . I would love to here from you ,your welcome to come for a coffee one day. |
