Hello, I am not a computer buff but I can do many things. I am interested in assembling and making small detailed objects. I can sew, embroider, cut patterns, draw, sculpt, cook, grow things from seed. I can also use a soldering iron and do basic woodwork and DIY. I am also happy to do unskilled work, such as packing, filling envelopes and leafleting. This is not all of what I can do, but gives you an idea. If anyone knows of any legitimate companies which actually pay for work done at home, please contact me. If you want, I'll share this information with anyone else who is interested in the same things. Thank you D Maher |

The only legitimate companies that would take you on to do these things would have to be in your very local area. For a company, the idea of outsourcing to homeworkers is to reduce the overheads that come with employing someone full time and heating and lighting a factory or office space for them to sit in. For that reason do not trust the companies that want to sent the items to you long distance - the postage or delivery costs would make you more expensive than a 'real' employee. Leafletting - what sort of rate would you hope to get for that? If you notice that the leaflets reaching your door usually get there with the newspaper or the regular mail, then there may be a gap in the market near you for a very localised leafletter. Money is tight so Chinese restaurants etc should be advertising as much as they can to keep drumming up business. Maybe you could set your rate and then go and offer to do a specialised service where they can pick exactly which roads get targeted and can keep costs spread out by doing tiny areas one after the other. Just market research your competitors to make sure you are cheaper than the big guys. There's a curtain shop down the road from me that grew out of one lady placing small ads in the local free paper offering clothes alterations, zippers replaced, invisible mends, buttons replaced, no job too small, etc etc. Just a thought. Once you've done one good job, you have word of mouth on your side. Cheryl Forum Specialist Homeworking.com
