Hi everyone my name is Donna I am a single parent of 4 children aged 9 5 4 and 2. Since having my children a marriage break up and many problems I have looked for work to do at home to give me a little bit more money to manage.

I like many others have fallen for the scames sent money and received nothing.

But I managed to find a legitimate homeworking busisness. Basically a man with a van would drop tonnes of boxes filled with envelopes and leaflets and mail sacks which I would fill batch into mail sort order and then bag and tag it then the man would return pick up the finished work and pay me cash on average I earned £55 per week.

The work was heavy hard but it did pay I did this for about 2 years some weeks I made over £100. The work became harder or I got tired so I decided to stop and look for something less labour intensive. I Everything I found was asking me for money so I gave up.

About 18 months ago I saw an advert about working from home as a recruitment Agent and an introductory meeting held in our local business centre. I went along and listend and was very very interested.

I went on the agents training course which cost me £120 for a one day intensive course.

I chose to specialise in Class 1 drivers.

I ring companies that use class 1 drivers and tell them I supply them if ever they need them they should contact me.

I advertise for Class 1 drivers in the job centre cos it's free.

Whenever a company rings me for a driver i ring my drives to see if available. i match the two together and then the driver starts work

For every hour the driver works I get paid £1.00

Because I am an agent the main company deals with paying the driver they send out all the paperwork to companies who want my information they deal with all NI and tax matters for the drivers what i do is

pay for all the calls i make (i use a phone card so i know what i spend each day)

I pay for all the stationery and stamps that go out to companies

I recive the timesheets from my drivers so i know how many hours have been worked i then send the timesheets to my main company who deal with paying the drives

To date I have 11 drives who work an average of 40 hours a week so if you work it out I earn £440 per week.

This is not a get rich quick scheme if you do not put the work in on the phone you will not get any vacancies if you do not get your staff you will not get any money if you are not prepared to pay for your phone calls stationery stamps and the training which is imperative or if you cannot talk confidently to people on the phone or you do not have the discipline to work on your own this is not for you.

I put alot of work in to get where i am today now i have alot of free time because my drivers are on contract for fixed periods like 3 6 or 12 months so I now have the time to look after myself and my children personally I think I am a millionaire my quality of life is really good but it didn't happen overnight and now that my 2 year old is in a private nursery 3 days a week I am about to increase on what I do.

It is a great feeling to know that when you're sleeping people are working and you still get paid.

I wanted to share my experience and to let you know it is possible to change your life and work at home but it takes responsibility from your self and to know that you will never get money for nothing.

Like Donna, I have also had a very positive experience with home working. Having worked for a large multi-national company for 22 years, I found that, although I was being paid for part-time hours (30 hours per week), I was often working twice that number of hours and felt that I had missed almost a year of seeing my children grow-up... enough was enough, but I still wanted to use my brain, keep my independence, see people regularly - and have fun!

I am amazed that I have managed to fulfil all those goals by running my own business from home. In July last year I became a Phoenix Trader selling a marvellous range of high quality, but low cost, greetings cards (and associated products) from home. Nearly everyone who sees the cards wants to buy them - and quite a few want to sell them! - and they keep coming back for more. I have a huge list of regular customers, a steadily growing team of enthusiastic Traders (I was "promoted" to Executive Trader within 4 months of joining) and most of all, I feel part of my children's and my husband's lives again, - I work the hours I want and so nannies are no longer needed. Another real bonus is how much fun I am having, - I keep meeting new people as well as keeping in touch with old friends.

I remember reading a few years ago an interview with slimming guru Rosemary Conley in which she said that she really doesn't feel that she works as she enjoys each day so much. I wrote this off as extreme smugness, - far too good to be true! - but that sums up how I feel, - it can be done.

Hi Heather - Pleased to meet another Phoenix afficionado!! We must have met at the Executive Trader meeting earlier in the year. Where are you based??

We've had a few mentions of Phoenix in the past couple of years (just click 'Seach Board' and enter keyword Phoenix).

I think anyone who joins Phoenix is guaranteed to have a great time if they enjoy meeting people - the designs are as young-at-heart, good humoured and lively as the company itself, wouldn't you agree?!?
