In 2001/02 Gail pursued her artistic talents and now concentrates on her successful art work, which she sells through Ebay. This Case Study is therefore out of date, but it shows how ideas and homeworking activities need to be fluid and can change, and the need for a wide portfolio of work.
Joan Sweeney has worked at home for the last 10 years writing books for children, aged 3-8.
Nancy is a paralegal (doing document preparation for probate cases and estate planning) and has done this work for 19 years, the last four on a part-time, at home basis.
Peter shares a house with friends, has one cat and has been homeworking on and off all his working life.

John is in his 50's and married with one child. He has run his own mail order business selling condoms and adult fashion for 9 years. (2001)
Update: 2005 - John's online condoms business did well and he was bought out. He has now diversified into a completely different product and still works from home.
Phil is in his 30's and married with two children aged 3 & 6. He has been homeworking for 2 months and is not sure that he enjoys it.
Tina is in her late 30's; is married and has two boys (4 and 7) and two cats. She runs Colinade Associates Ltd.
