The Complete Book of Business PlansThe Complete Book of Business Plans
Joseph A. Covello & Brian J. Hazelgren
Sourcebooks, Inc. 1995     Order from: amazon.ca   amazon.com    Amazon.co.uk    amazon.de
A comprehensive A4 publication which contains 11 full business plans and takes you through the steps to create your own winning business plan. The book starts off with the usual guidelines about the basics of a business plan but then develops this into some really helpful information to lead you towards a great plan. The book then leaps into 101 questions with space for you to fill in the answers. The questions start off straightforward and then become more probing as you face up to essential information that will be needed for your business plan - and your business! The chapter shows a mug indicating one could probably do these questions in a tea break, but depending on how experienced you are, it would really need several mugs of tea to complete! You are then taken through a sample business plan and I must confess to liking the idea of seeing a finished product and how a typical plan could look and what it contains. Chapter 4 then takes you back to some basics - The Vision, and this helps you to take your business plan that one step further to be really good. There is a glossary of terms and further information with the book ending on 10 full business plans over nearly 200 pages! This book has just the right amount of input from 'lesson type' material and then so many examples which I find suits my style of learning.

The 24 Hour Business PlanThe 24 Hour Business Plan
Ron Johnson
Century Business 1997     Order from: amazon.ca   Amazon.co.uk   available as an e-book from  amazon.com
The author of this book writes with the assumption that you know the basics for running your own business and reckons that, if you already have all the information at your fingertips, it only takes 24 hours to write a three year business plan for a samll to medium sized business. This book starts off with a planning timetable to help you plan to plan! Bizarre but so effective. The book is comprehensive, clear, easy to read and absorb. Although assuming a certain amount of knowledge it still covers all the basics and pushes you towards producing a business plan that will help you secure outside planning as well as forming the basis of your business management. There is a blank business plan at the end which some people may prefer to examples that are already filled in.

The Cluetrain ManifestoThe Cluetrain Manifesto
Levine, Locke, Searls & Weinberger
Order from: amazon.ca   Amazon.co.uk    amazon.com
"A proof of the Cluetrain Manifesto arrived this morning, and I'm halfway through already. I cannot express just how good this book is - the first chapter alone had me almost weeping for joy at the fact that someone has said what has sat, inarticulate, at the front of my brain for years. I'm sure it will be a big seller - but more importantly, it needs to be read. CEOs should have this book forcibly tattooed onto their chests."
Ben Hammersley, The Times
